The Essential Facts of Backgammon Tactics – Part 2
Posted in Backgammon on 02/16/2019 06:25 am by LillieAs we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of ability and pure luck. The goal is to move your pieces safely around the board to your inside board and at the same time your opposition shifts their pieces toward their inside board in the opposing direction. With competing player checkers heading in opposite directions there is bound to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at specific times. Here are the two final Backgammon techniques to round out your game.
The Priming Game Tactic
If the purpose of the blocking strategy is to hamper the opponents ability to move his chips, the Priming Game tactic is to completely stop any movement of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The opponent’s pieces will either get bumped, or end up in a damaged position if he at all tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be setup anywhere between point two and point 11 in your half of the board. Once you have successfully assembled the prime to prevent the activity of the opponent, the competitor does not even get a chance to toss the dice, and you shift your chips and toss the dice yet again. You’ll win the game for sure.
The Back Game Technique
The aims of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game technique are very similar – to hurt your opponent’s positions hoping to boost your odds of winning, but the Back Game strategy utilizes alternate tactics to do that. The Back Game strategy is generally used when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this technique, you need to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single piece) late in the game. This strategy is more difficult than others to play in Backgammon because it needs careful movement of your pieces and how the pieces are moved is partly the result of the dice roll.
