The Essential Basics of Backgammon Tactics – Part 1
Posted in Backgammon on 07/03/2019 11:25 am by LillieThe objective of a Backgammon game is to shift your checkers around the Backgammon board and get those pieces off the game board faster than your competitor who works harder to achieve the same buthowever they move in the opposite direction. Winning a round of Backgammon requires both tactics and luck. How far you can shift your chips is up to the numbers from rolling the dice, and just how you shift your checkers are decided on by your overall playing plans. Enthusiasts use a number of strategies in the differing stages of a match based on your positions and opponent’s.
The Running Game Tactic
The aim of the Running Game plan is to bring all your chips into your home board and pull them off as quick as you could. This tactic focuses on the speed of advancing your checkers with no efforts to hit or stop your opponent’s checkers. The best scenario to employ this tactic is when you believe you might be able to move your own pieces faster than your opponent does: when 1) you have less chips on the game board; 2) all your pieces have past your opponent’s chips; or 3) the opposing player does not use the hitting or blocking strategy.
The Blocking Game Technique
The primary aim of the blocking technique, by its name, is to block the competitor’s chips, temporarily, while not worrying about shifting your pieces rapidly. After you’ve created the blockage for the opponent’s movement with a few chips, you can move your other checkers rapidly off the game board. The player should also have a clear strategy when to extract and shift the chips that you used for blocking. The game gets intriguing when the opposition uses the same blocking tactic.
