The Essential Basics of Backgammon Tactics – Part Two
Posted in Backgammon on 09/27/2024 07:25 pm by LillieAs we dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a casino game of talent and good luck. The aim is to shift your checkers safely around the board to your home board and at the same time your opposition moves their checkers toward their inner board in the opposite direction. With competing player pieces heading in opposing directions there is bound to be conflict and the need for specific tactics at specific times. Here are the last 2 Backgammon tactics to round out your game.
The Priming Game Plan
If the goal of the blocking tactic is to hamper the opponents ability to shift his chips, the Priming Game plan is to absolutely stop any movement of the opposing player by assembling a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s checkers will either get bumped, or result a damaged position if he/she ever attempts to escape the wall. The ambush of the prime can be established anywhere between point 2 and point eleven in your game board. After you have successfully constructed the prime to prevent the movement of the competitor, your opponent does not even get to roll the dice, and you move your chips and roll the dice again. You will win the game for sure.
The Back Game Plan
The goals of the Back Game strategy and the Blocking Game technique are very similar – to hurt your competitor’s positions with hope to better your chances of succeeding, but the Back Game plan relies on seperate tactics to do that. The Back Game strategy is frequently used when you are far behind your opponent. To participate in Backgammon with this technique, you have to control two or more points in table, and to hit a blot (a single checker) late in the game. This technique is more difficult than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it requires careful movement of your pieces and how the pieces are moved is partly the result of the dice toss.
