The Essential Details of Backgammon Tactics – Part 2

As we have dicussed in the previous article, Backgammon is a game of ability and luck. The goal is to shift your pieces safely around the game board to your home board and at the same time your opposing player shifts their checkers toward their home board in the opposite direction. With opposing player chips moving in opposite directions there is going to be conflict and the requirement for specific tactics at specific times. Here are the two final Backgammon tactics to complete your game.

The Priming Game Plan

If the goal of the blocking strategy is to slow down the opponent to move their chips, the Priming Game strategy is to absolutely block any movement of the opponent by creating a prime – ideally 6 points in a row. The competitor’s chips will either get hit, or result a bad position if she at all tries to leave the wall. The trap of the prime can be established anyplace between point 2 and point 11 in your game board. As soon as you have successfully constructed the prime to block the movement of the competitor, the competitor does not even get to roll the dice, that means you move your checkers and roll the dice yet again. You will be a winner for sure.

The Back Game Plan

The objectives of the Back Game plan and the Blocking Game technique are very similar – to harm your competitor’s positions hoping to better your odds of succeeding, but the Back Game technique utilizes different techniques to achieve that. The Back Game tactic is often utilized when you are far behind your competitor. To play Backgammon with this strategy, you have to hold 2 or more points in table, and to hit a blot late in the game. This technique is more challenging than others to play in Backgammon seeing as it needs careful movement of your chips and how the chips are relocated is partly the outcome of the dice toss.
